Velvet Drape Banner with
canvas banner |
Left: Here is the
first velvet request. The customer wanted a specific "1950's
glitzy B-movie" feel to this table drape, which was being used in
conjunction with a western-style comedy-magic performance.
The client
sent his own text design, and requested the colors of purple
background and gold lettering, with lots of sparkle.
The
result uses rhinestones set into the lettering
(not seen in the photo)
and in the fringe. The bottom right photo is the table set up in the
client's
saddlemaking studio in Colorado, ready for performance rehearsal. |
Left:
This banner is shown just before clear-coating, and before rhinestones
are added to the "holster" in the center, which will
simulate silver. This banner was made for the same client as tabove all of his supplies try to look 1950's cowboy. |

Variety
Performer Banners |
Left : The
client, a performer named Hilby, requested the placement of his own image in his banner, and his
own catch-phrase. Since he performs at all types of venues, the banner
had to be useful in many circumstances. Lauren analyzed the imagery on
his business card and his brochure (primary colors and
"bubbles"), to create this uniform look which would look like
his publicity materials, yet support the silly, happy, gregarious
character that he wanted to portray.
The photo is a
bit misleading - the picture was taken as the banner was placed on the
floor in a hallway. This banner was digitally photographed and emailed
to the client for final approval, before final protective
clear-coating.

Left:
Why does this man look so happy? Because he was just taking home
his new performance banner. Magician "Isaac Fawlkes" proudly
displays his banner (seen below). The banner is 3' x 5-1/2', and the
portrait was painted from a photograph |

Left: The
"Isaac Fawlkes" banner, completed in March, 2001. Once again,
the banner was so large it was placed on a hallway for photographing.
The slant seen in this photograph is actually
photographic perspective.
Note how the red
tones in the text offset the apple on top of the performer's head.

|

Left: This
magician's banner measures 5 ft by 4 ft, done in the style of the old
magician's posters, complete with the typical genre devils on
shoulders. The portrait is the client himself, to be used as
decoration as well as advertising and performance prop.

Right: Lauren,
with completed advertising banner for a performance convention. The
banner was created to be passed along from person to person, to be
displayed as advertising at other events. In this case, the turnaround
time was 3 days, from first phone call to delivery of dried, sealed, and
mounted product. |
